Molecular & Biological Materials Core Facility

      The Molecular & Biological Materials (MBM) Core Facility provides support for research programs throughout the Noble Foundation. The Core Facility staff mainly focus on:
  • Providing a service for reverse genetic screening of both fast-neutron bombardment-mutagenized populations and Tnt1 retrotransposon-mutagenized populations of Medicago truncatula. The screening for researchers within the Foundation is currently free of charge. For requests from off campus researchers, the screening will be collaboration-based;
  • Curating and distributing Medicago truncatula seeds from both the fast-neutron deletion and Tnt1 insertion populations;
  • Distributing EST clones and cDNA clones from Medicago truncatula, alfalfa, tall fescue and other plant species;
  • Squencing flanking sequence tags (FSTs) of the Tnt1-tagged lines using conventional TAIL-PCR approach and generating a web-based searchable database for FSTs (http://10.7.5.69/mutant/);
