Noble Foundation field day set to discuss best management practices for cow-calf operations

For more than 60 years, The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation's Agricultural Division has assisted agricultural producers and other stewards of natural resources in Oklahoma and North Texas through consultation, education programs and research and demonstration projects.

On Thursday, Nov. 1, the Noble Foundation will continue its legacy of providing farmers and ranchers with current, relevant and applicable information by holding a special field day in southwest Oklahoma to give agricultural producers an opportunity to hear about the Noble Foundation's programs.

Scheduled to run from 9:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Cedar Creek Farms, west of Anadarko, the meeting will feature several Noble Foundation agricultural specialists, who will discuss their consultation services, the new Integrity Beef Program, beef marketing options, herd health management, bull and cow selection methods, pasture preparation for backgrounding and other cow-calf issues.

"All these topics are interlinked as you look at the best management practices for cow-calf operations," said Russell Stevens, team manager for the Noble Foundation's western Oklahoma consultation team. "Successfully handling these topics and understanding how they work together can lead to a better, healthy herd and, ultimately, higher profits."

Featured with the meeting will be the Noble Foundation's Integrity Beef Program, which is a comprehensive management program that assists participants in producing consistent, high-quality beef cattle to improve their financial returns through quality differentiation and marketing strategies.

Current Integrity Beef producers will be on hand to discuss the advantages of the program.

Lunch will be served as part of the program. There is no cost to attend the field day, but attendees are asked to reserve their seat in advance by calling 580.224.6500. Cedar Creek Farms is located one mile west of the Route 62 and Route 9 intersection and north half a mile on N2590.
