Media advisory issued April 4, 2003, effective immediately. IAAP Chapter set to Observe Administrative Professionals Week ARDMORE, Okla. Administrative assistants, office coordinators, executive secretaries, and other types of administrative support staff in Ardmore area are invited to network with other professionals during the April meeting of the Ardmore Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP). The meeting will be a get-acquainted luncheon starting at noon at the Noble Foundation's Pavilion in Ardmore. Senior Vice President Jeff Johnston of Mercy Memorial Health Center is the guest speaker, and he will be discussing the value of the administrative professional. Also occurring this month is Administrative Professionals Week, which is nationally observed April 20-26 with Wednesday, April 23, designated as Administrative Professionals Day. IAAP suggests that employers observe Administrative Professionals Week by providing training for their administrative staff through seminars, continuing education or self-study materials. Another suggestion is to make a commitment toward delegating responsibilities that better utilize the skills of administrative professionals. "Paying your administrative professional's IAAP dues or sending them to an IAAP-sponsored seminar is a great way to show your appreciation," said Sandi Blehm, president of the Ardmore IAAP Chapter. IAAP is the world's largest association for administrative personnel, with more than 600 chapters and 40,000 members and affiliates worldwide.
