Outdoor Recreation
Lake Murray, just south of Ardmore, is Oklahoma's largest state park and
the region's largest tourist draw. The lake has boat ramps, a marina, hiking
trails and an 18-hole golf course. Camping, cabins and picnic facilities
are also available to the public.
Lake Texoma, less than an hour's drive to the east, is larger than Lake
Murray and is known for excellent bass fishing. It has a hotel, cabins
and two 18 hole golf courses. Also, there is a recreational park with
go-carts, miniature golf and batting cages.
Other nearby parks include Turner Falls, Chickasaw National Recreation
Area and Blue River.
Ardmore has three 18-hole golf courses.
|
- Dornick Hills, a private country club;
- Lakeview, a city-run public facility;
- Lake Murray, a state-run public course.
The City of Ardmore maintains more than a dozen city parks including
Ardmore Regional Park, a resource which would be envied by many larger
cities. Regional Park features paved walking trails winding through a
natural landscape, playground equipment, softball and soccer fields and
access to City Lake.
Art, Music, Culture
Ardmore hosts touring rock, country and blues artists at Heritage Hall,
the Tivoli Theater and Two Frogs Grill. The Charles B. Goddard Center
in downtown Ardmore is home to a rotating art collection and a number
of cultural events each year, including classical and jazz performances.
The nearby Dallas/Ft. Worth and Oklahoma City metropolitan areas offer
an unlimited number of cultural and entertainment options:
|
- major, touring musical acts, opera and Broadway productions;
- world-class museums such as the Dallas Museum of Art, the National
Cowboy and Western Heritage Center and the Sam Noble Museum of Natural
History;
- classical music at the widely-recognized Meyerson Symphony Hall;
- professional and collegiate sporting events;
- fantastic restaurants and cultural food markets (more info at the
bottom of our links page).
Noble Foundation Events
The Noble Foundation sponsors a number of employee social and recreational
events each year. An annual picnic brings friendly competition and family
fun to the campus in the springtime. A sports committee organizes teams
among employees and their family members for local volleyball, bowling,
golf and other tournaments. Throughout the year, the Foundation has social
mixers and drawings for gift certificates and opera and musical tickets.
The annual Christmas party is an opportunity to dress up a little and
mingle with colleagues. |
